AI Transparency & Human Oversight
Last updated: June 19, 2026
SkillMint uses AI to help hiring teams find relevant candidates faster. We believe AI in hiring should be transparent and always paired with human judgment. This page explains how our AI works, the safeguards around it, and your rights.
How We Use AI
When a candidate applies or is added to our pool, our AI parses the resume and produces a skill ranking and a fit score against a role. These signals help recruiters prioritize who to review first — they are decision support, not decision makers.
Human Oversight — "AI Ranks, Humans Decide"
Every hiring decision on SkillMint is made by a human reviewer. Recruiters can and do override AI-generated ratings and move candidates through the pipeline based on their own judgment. These human overrides are recorded in an internal audit trail so that oversight is demonstrable and reviewable.
EU AI Act Alignment
The EU AI Act classifies AI used in recruitment and candidate evaluation as "high-risk", requiring human oversight, transparency, and record-keeping. SkillMint is designed around these principles: meaningful human review, clear disclosure that AI is used, and auditability of overrides.
Your Rights
- Disclosure: you are told when AI is used to evaluate your application.
- Human review: a person reviews applications before hiring decisions are made.
- Explanation: you may request an explanation of the skills and information that informed your AI ranking.
- Correction: you may request correction of inaccurate data used in your evaluation.
Fairness
We work to reduce bias by ranking on skills and experience relevant to the role, and by keeping a human in the loop for every decision. We continue to review our models and processes for fairness.
